Scott Hendershot

Senior Manager – Sustainability Office
University of Toronto – St. George Campus

Scott and his team are on an ongoing mission: to embed sustainability into the fabric of University operations and the on-campus experience.


Scott is responsible for oversight of the St. George Campus Sustainability Office, and acts as an advocate and leader for affecting sustainable change at U of T. The Sustainability Office which offers a broad range of sustainability services where we:

  • work to minimize all impacts across the sustainability spectrum

  • guided by the UN SDGs and regenerative sustainability

  • support responsible growth while continuously renewing infrastructure

  • develop, support, and empower U of T’s students, faculty and staff

  • act as a hub for awareness, services, and collaboration

  • collaborate with our colleagues across the tri-campus, and external partners

Scott is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and Sustainability Excellence Associate (SEA) with broad knowledge, keen interest and dedication to a more sustainable world – is clearly driven by his motivation to deliver sustainable change across U of T, and beyond.


Scott has been with UofT for 3 years now, previously in the private sector bringing 30 years of diverse experience, most recently played a leading role in developing and embedding Sustainability across an aviation corporation for over a decade.

Hussein Hassanali

R&D Applications Lead

Martinrea International

Hussein Hassanali leads a team to create novel technology used to make automotive manufacturing more intelligent and sustainable at Martinrea. In addition, he has founded a social enterprise that creates small-scale energy generators for use in rural Malawi and through this experience became involved with Engineers Without Borders, where he has volunteered for 6 years in various roles.

 

He has earned a B.ASc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and is currently pursuing a Master of Engineering at the University of Toronto.
